Where there are showers, there will be duckies!

We celebrated the coming baby with the Gahagen and Lawson families at a shower in Evansville on Sunday. Everything was just ducky!

May Forecast: Heavy Showers!

May has brought with it plenty in the way of showers - baby showers, that is! We are so blessed with so many generous family and friends. Baby Gahagen is being welcomed into the world by so many wonderful people.

Shower season kicked off in Detroit with a big shower at Bayview Yacht Club. Lots of family from both the Grunow and Murray sides celebrated with us, along with plenty of friends. It was so nice to see everyone again! Here are some of the highlights.

If you'd like to see all of the pictures from the shower, send me an email or leave a comment. I'll send you the link to the album on the Kodak Gallery site. (I tried to link to the album directly from here, but that does not seem to be working very well).

Talk Derby to Me!

We celebrated Derby Day with the annual Gahagen Derby party. Chris ran the backyard betting window, Sarah Leach ran the Derby pools, Cathy ran the kitchen, and Dave gave the annual toast for the pre-derby shots of Jameson. Everyone had a GREAT time!

Day at the Downs!

Gahagen family tradition says that the Thursday before the Kentucky Derby is spent at Churchill Downs. The guys spend their day at the Sky Terrace part of the track, while the ladies get box seats on the ground level. Good times are had by all!

Churchill Downs Day - The Men

The guys spend their day at the track at the Sky Terrace part of Churchill Downs. There is quite a view of the track from up there!

Churchill Downs Day - The Ladies

The ladies started Thursday morning with brunch and hat decorating. Everybody needs a hat for Derby week!

Derby Festival Mini-Marathon

Chris and Brian (our brother-in-law) both ran in the mini-marathon, held a week before the Derby. We all went out and cheered them on. More pictures from this will be coming soon (hopefully - we had to use the film camera that day due to rain). In the meantime, here is a link to some of the professional photos taken during the race: http://www.brightroom.com/go.asp?11101477

The Great Balloon Glimmer

The balloon glimmer is held in Waterfront park on the Thursday night a week before the Kentucky Derby. There were 18 hot air balloons there, all lit up. It was fabulous! We definitely plan to go again next year.
